About the Event
ABOUT
In 2027, Japan and Thailand celebrate the 140th anniversary of their diplomatic relations — a milestone year in which both governments hold commemorative exchange programs. The centerpiece of them all is SUMO BANGKOK 2027. A delegation of 135, led by the Yokozuna, will travel to Bangkok to present three days of bouts in the true style of an official Grand Sumo tournament.
Following London in 2025 and Paris in 2026, this marks Grand Sumo’s third consecutive year of overseas tournaments — its first ever in Southeast Asia, and its first visit to Asia in 14 years since the 2013 Jakarta tour.
Two cultures. One dohyo.
